COMMUNITY BRIEFS In their continuing effort to ensure the best user experience for all customers, the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles changed its internet domain to flhsmv.gov. For customers who want to visit the Department's website, they will log onto www.flhsmv.gov where they will find their on-line resources and information including their internet based services for vehicles and drivers licenses renewals.. The current www.hsmv.state.fl.us web address will continue to work as well the existing e-mail addresses for members. However, outgoing departmental e-mail will reflect the new e-mail address. Progress edition in queue Gulf Breeze News' annual Progress Report will be published May 1. The Progress Report offers a list of the accomplishments of local governments, organizations and businesses that affect the greater Gulf Breeze area. Printed in a tabloid format, the Progress Report will be distributed in the Gulf Breeze News May 1 issue and be placed in waiting rooms, lobbies and other points of contact throughout South Santa Rosa County. There is a 15 percent discount off advertising prices until March 31, and many ad sizes include a free feature article about the business. Sheriff offers free kids' ID cards Sheriff Wendell Hall is promoting a joint partnership with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and Wal-Mart to provide identification cards for Santa Rosa children between the ages of 5 and 17 years old. If anyone is interested, the event will be held at the Milton Community Center at 5629 Byron Street on March 22, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Free cards will be given for the first 100 children to apply provided by Wal-Mart. After the first 100, the cards will cost $3 each. All children receiving identification cards will need to provide the following Primary and Secondary documentation. Primary documentation for US Citizens: An original or certified copy of a US birth certificate issued by an Office of Vital Statistics or the U.S. Department of State, or a valid unexpired U.S. passport, or a U.S. Naturalization document, or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. Primary documentation for non-U.S. Citizens: Secondary documentation: A Social Security card or military issued ID These ID cards can be used for legal identification and will establish an official record/photo, which is instantly accessible by law enforcement in case of an emergency. This event will be held again on May 17, in early August and on Oct. 25, in Santa Rosa County. Midway offers CERT training The Midway Fire District and Navarre Community Emergency Response Team are sponsoring a free CERT training class, starting March 21 at the Midway Fire District station, located at 1322 College Parkway. Training sessions will be held indoors and outdoors culminating in a hands-on exercise. The class consists of four sessions totalling approximately 24 hours, as follows: Friday, March 21, 5 p.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday, March 22, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Friday, March 28, 5 p.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday, March 29, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Call Emergency Management at 850-983-5360 to register , or go to Santa Rosa County's Emergency Management website CERT page at www.santarosa.fl.gov/emergency/ certapplication.html and fill out a CERT application.
