Girls track team beats Washington

Jason Thompson/Gulf Breeze News Jen Pfeifler won three events in last week's meet against Washington.
Freshmen Katie Aldridge, Meredeth Chavers and Jen Pfeifler, along with junior Emily Tryon, won three events Thursday as the Lady Dolphins beat Washington 87-50. Gulf Breeze results were as follows:

Discus - 1) Tobie Bass (76-10), 2) Gina Bertelli (70-10).

Long jump - 2) Briana Santiago (14-11.25).

Shot put - 1) Bass (31-5).

High jump - 1) Morgan Floyd (4- 2), 2) McKenna Housman (4-0).

Pole vault - 1) Chavers (6-6), T2) Ravin Anderson and Colleen Eastburn (6-0).

Triple jump - 2) Santiago (32-3), 3) Lauren Musick (30-10).

4x800 meter relay - 1) Aldridge, Musick, Chavers, Tryon (11:13).

100 meter hurdles - 1) Aldridge (20.22), 2) Jacquie Fockler (20.74), 3) Laura Fradenburg (21.64).

100 meter dash - 2) Santiago (13.58).

1600 meter run - 1) Tryon (5:38).

400 meter run - 1) Pfeifler (1:04.43).

300 meter hurdles - 1) Aldridge (55.44), 2) Fockler (1:00).

800 meter run - 1) Pfeifler (2:43).

200 meter dash - 3) Floyd (30.12).

3200 meter run - 1) Tryon (12:18), 3) Jennifer Winn (16:47).

4x400 meter relay - 1) Musick, Laurin Halstead, Chavers, Pfeifler (4:33).

Washington's boys won 13 of 17 events to beat the Dolphins 103-38. Dolphins results are as follows:

Long jump - 2) Justin Ratte (18- 11.5).

Shot put - 3) Zach Permenter (39-2).

High jump - 1) Dustin Clements (5-10), 2) Bryan Shreve (5-10), 3) Alec Cann (5-0).

Pole vault - 1) Permenter (12-0).

Triple jump - 3) Adam Woods (33-3.5).

4x800 meter relay - 2) Tommy Gibble, Danny Gibble, Kurt Mason, Will Thomas (8:49).

100 meter hurdles - 2) Stewart Williams (18.67), 3) Aaron Williams (21.72).

1600 meter run - 2) Will Thomas (4:44).

400 meter run - 1) Sam Grooms (53.83).

300 meter hurdles - 3) Stewart Williams (44.25).

3200 meter run - 3) Davis Thomas (11:01).

Pfeifler won two events, while Tryon broke her own school record in the two mile, as the Lady Dolphins finished third in a three-team meet at Dolphin Stadium on March 4.

Navarre won with 91 points, followed by West Florida (45) and GBHS (42). Lady Dolphin results were as follows:

Discus - 1) Bass (80-2). Shot put - 1) Bass (33-4.5).

High jump - 1) Celia Eddy (4-8).

Pole vault - 3) Bri Pate (7-6), 4) Anderson (6-6).

Triple jump - 2) Santiago (32-8), 3) Musick (32-6.5).

4x800 meter relay - 1) Aldridge, Musick, Chavers, Tryon (11:00).

100 meter dash - 2) Santiago (13.56), 4) Floyd (14.09).

1600 meter run - 1) Pfeifler (5:43).

800 meter run - 1) Pfeifler (2:31).

3200 meter run - 1) Tryon (11:35).

The Dolphins took second in the three team meet with 39 points. Navarre won the meet (103), while West Florida was third (35). Dolphins results are as follows:

Shot put - 3) Permenter (41-4).

High jump - 1) Clements (6-4), 4) Shreve (5-10).

Pole vault - 1) Permenter (12-0), 2) Sean Thompson (10-6), 3) Johnson (7-6).

4x800 meter relay - 2) Mason, Chad Robin, Will Thomas, Tommy Gibble (8:48).

100 meter hurdles - 4) S. Williams (17.75).

1600 meter run - 2) Will Thomas (4:44), 3) Aber Wilson (4:59).

400 meter run - 1) Grooms (52.81).

3200 meter run - 2) W. Thomas (11:08), 4) Robin (11:24).

Tryon's breaking of the school's two mile record was the second time she had done so in four days.

She set the then-record of 11:39, winning the event at the Max Bruner Relays March 1 at Choctaw High School.

Both the girls and boys team finished third in the 13-team meet. The boys finished with 69 points, while the girls had 47 points.

Tryon won two events in the meet - she also won the mile with a time of 5:30.96. Musick won the triple jump with a leap of 31-4.25. Musick, along with Chavers, Aldridge and Tryon, were third in the 4x800 meter relay (10:40).

Bass was third in the shot put with a throw of 34-4.

Halstead, Music and Chavers made up three-fourths of the team's scoring 4x400 and 4x100 meter relay teams. The three, along with Emily Craven, ran the 4x400 in 4:41 (good for fifth place), while the trio plus Bertelli were sixth in the 4x100 with a time of 55.8.

Will Thomas won two events - the 800 (2:02) and the 4x800 meter relay (8:36) with Tommy Gibble, Mason and Robin.

Clements was second in the high jump (6-4), while Shreve was fifth (5-10). Dylan Lee was third in the two mile (10:46), while Dylan Thomas was fourth (10:57).

Tommy Gibble, Thomas, Grooms and Grant Harris were third in the 4x400 meter relay (3:42).
