Pelicans begin commercial contest

The Pensacola Pelicans are calling on their creative fans to take part in their "Where Everyone Plays" TV Commercial Contest for the 2008 season.

Groups or individuals are invited to submit a fully edited and produced 15-20 second TV commercial for the opportunity to win a cash prize up to $1,000 and a pair of season tickets.

The winning spot will be aired throughout the Pelicans season. The deadline to submit a commercial is Friday, April 11 at the Pelicans office located at 4920 North Davis Highway. Ads will be placed on the Pelicans website for viewers to vote on the best ad.

The winning ad will be announced the following week and will first air days before the Pelicans first game on May 8. All interested participants must contact the Pelicans office for contest rules and regulations before production of the commercial.

PBVC to sponsor Middle School Dance March 28

The Pensacola Beach Volleyball Club will sponsor a Middle School Dance Friday, March 28 from 7-10 p.m. at Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church Gym.

Admission is $5 at the door. Pizza, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. A uniformed GB Police officer will be present the entire time, and plenty of adult chaperones will be on hand.

Links for Lindsey April 6 in Crestview

A Links for Lindsey Golf Tournament will take place April 6 at the Adara Golf Club in Crestview.

Three-year-old Lindsey Adams has retinoblastoma, a rare cancer that forms in the tissues inside one's retina.

The disease has already taken her left eye. Proceeds from the tournament will go toward's Lindsey treatment on her right eye. Cost for the four-player scramble is $60 per person, which includes a meal.

Woodlawn Beach Middle 5K Run April 12

The second annual Woodlawn Beach Middle School 5K Run is April 12 at the school.

Registration until March 28 is $12 for students (up to age 18) and $15 for adults. Late registration (March 29-April 11) is $15 and $20, respectively and is $25 the day of race for all ages.

Early registrants are guaranteed a t-shirt, while late registrants get a t-shirt on an availability basis. All proceeds will benefit programs at WBMS.
