JAMES MEADE WALKER JR. 1926-2008

Our father left this world on March 5, 2008 for his heavenly home to join his wife Helen. James & Helen moved to Pensacola with five children in 1968. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in Germany and Poland and worked with the Polish underground. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant for the U.S.A.F after serving 20 years. He also retired from Escambia County after 15 years of service working as an Animal Control Officer, Deputy Sheriff and retiring as a Deputized Environmental Control Officer. He discovered the Agrico super fund site and helped initiate E.P.A involvement and was instrumental in writing many of Escambia Counties environmental laws.

He loved fishing, painting, animals and having intelligent conversations with his friends about politics and today's issues.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; father; mother; four sisters; and a brother.

Survivors include his son. Scott Walker and his wife Marcie of Gulf Breeze; his daughters, Nan Lee Walker (Elder) of Jacksonville, Sherry Walker (Brantley) and her husband Tom of Pensacola, Ina Walker (Rahn) and her husband John of Pensacola, Lucy Walker and her husband Carl of St Helena Island, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Christopher Walker, Elizabeth Cooley, Ashley and Ian Rahn; his sister, Estelle Lawson; a niece and nephews in Hampton & Newport News, VA; and his beloved, devoted dog, Petey.

Many thanks to Larry Walker, Katherine Lynch, Ernestine Lawrence, and Jerry Dennis for being his friends and companions. Thank you for loving him just the way he was.

Dad, you may no longer be here with us, but you will always remain in our hearts, our souls and in the memories we have of you. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU VERY MUCH.

There will be no funeral services. The family will have a private ceremony.
