FAITH BRIEFS The Reverend Al Pruitt, Rector, announces the fourth annual fundraising event for St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Gulf Breeze. The event is called the Midsummer Night Party and will be held on Saturday June 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 1 St. Francis Drive in Gulf Breeze. Event planners said the event is going to be bigger than ever and this year there are three parish couples serving as cochairmen for this gala occasion. They are Herb and Ann Woll, Bob and Suzanne Terry and Gary and Becky King. Join St. Francis Parishioners for wine, heavy hors d'oeuvres and dessert while bidding on an array of exciting items donated by local artists and businesses. The silent auction features travel packages, original art, sailing and fishing adventures, local restaurant gift certificates and more. The auction runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and winners will be announced immediately following the close of the sale. There will be drawings for chances to win door prizes or win an entire table of fabulous items. One especially fun event will be the Wine Toss. The General Admission Tickets are $20 and include food and beverage. Sponsor Tickets are $30 and include food/beverage as well as eight Chance Tickets for drawings. Chance Tickets for drawings and the Wine Toss are $2 and participants must be present to win with Chance Tickets. GBUMC announces upcoming events The Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church will offer the following Holy Week Services: Palm Sunday Saturday, March 15 6 p.m. Community Life Center and Sunday, March 16 at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. at the Main Campus and 9 and 10:30 a.m. at the Community Life Center. Holy Week Observance Wednesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at the Community Life Center. Holy Thursday is March 20 at 7 p.m. at th Main Campus. Faure's "Requiem" will be presented by the chapel choir and an Holy Communion will take place. Good Friday service is March 21 at 7 p.m. at the Main Campus. Easter Weekend Services are Saturday, March 22 at 6 p.m. at the Community Life Center and Sunday, March 23 at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. at the Main Campus and 9 and 10:30 a.m. at the Community Life Center. Naomi's Table will be held Sunday, March 16 at 5 p.m., on the Main Campus, in the Fellowship Hall. This support group for widows is a safe place to receive and offer support and understanding for the many changes, challenges and choices many people must face on our journey from grief to healing. Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the first and third Sundays of the month from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at the Main Campus, Room 12. All are welcome as the group finds new ways to blanket others in prayer. Please contact Pamela Adams at 939-8929. An Alzheimer's Support Group for Caregivers will meet Thursday, March 13, 10 a.m. at the Main Campus. Alzheimer's Family Services has started a support group for the loved ones of Alzheimer's patients for the community members of Gulf Breeze. Emerge Student Ministries will be selling Easter Lilies to raise money for youth missions through Sunday, March 16. The cost is $15 for each 8 inch potted plant. Easter Lilies make a thoughtful gift, festive decoration or wonderful donation to the church for Easter. Customers may also purchase Easter Lilies in memory and/or honor of someone whose name will appear in the bulletin. They will be available for pick up at both Main Campus and Community Life Center on Thursday, March 20 throughout the day. Order forms are available at both campuses. Mark your calendars for the annual Blessing of the Pets on Sunday, March 30 at the 9 am and 10:30 a.m. worship service at the Community Life Center. These services will be outside so dress comfortable. Also, there will not any children's ministry activities on this Sunday so the whole family can enjoy this service. Nursery will be provided. 'The Paschal Mystery and the Triduum' this Sunday The community is invited to a special event titled, "The Paschal Mystery and the Triduum" presented by The Rev. Nick Schumm at St. Ann Catholic Church on March 16 at 4 p.m. The church is located at 100 Daniel Drive in Gulf Breeze. The event will be followed by a dinner of pizza, bread and salad. Come learn the symbolism and meanings behind Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Great Vigil of Holy Saturday. Afterwards, share pizza, salad and dessert with church membership.
