Lawmakers visit Santa Rosa
BY SCOTT PAGE Gulf Breeze News Scott@gulfbreezenews.com

The Northwest Florida Delegation met with Santa Rosa County residents and officials on Feb. 27 in the Commissioner's Board Room at the County Administrative Center. The meeting provided locals an opportunity to speak directly to their representatives and present them with programs and services that need state funding.

Representatives of local businesses, as well as national organizations, took to the podium to address the Delegation. John Broxson, chairman of the board of county commissioners, also presented the Delegation with three suggestions that included preservation of grounds around military facilities, construction/renovation of hurricane shelters and an effort to incorporate property located in the Midway area into the recreational master plan.

Broxson was adamant in his support of building a new recreational facility, citing his belief that more recreational opportunities lead to less crime.

Delegation members, which includes state lawmakers who represent the panhandle, said the state legislature plans to make approximately $4 billion in budget cuts.
