Civic band performs 'Sousa Spectacular' March 11

The members of the Pensacola Civic Band are busy practicing for their upcoming performance: Sousa Spectacular.

The show will be held at the Marcus Pointe Baptist Church in Pensacola on March 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Led by Director Don Snowden, the band will be performing compositions by John Philip Sousa, an influential musician during the turn of the 20th century known for his powerful marches, pieces of music with a strong, regular rhythm. Snowden explains that the pieces have "very traditional sounds, but have been transcribed from orchestra to suit the band." Snowden is very excited for the upcoming performance as it will feature a Bassoon Solo played by Abigail Jones Walker, 23, and a special 'mystery' musical guest.
