GBHS students expelled for drugs
BY PAM BRANNON Gulf Breeze News news@gulfbreezenews.com

Santa Rosa County School Board expelled 25 students at the school board meeting last week, with 10 of those being from south end schools. But Gulf Breeze High only had three students in the group being expelled and sent to the county's alternative education school, the Learning Academy.

Gulf Breeze High expulsions all centered around drugs, with one student expelled for being "under the influence of illegal drugs" and two others being charged with sale, distribution, or attempt to sell drugs on school grounds.

Woodlawn Beach Middle School had one student expelled, charged with being in possession of prescription drugs without a prescription.

Navarre High had five students expelled, with three of those being charged with possession of marijuana, one being charged with possession of a prescription drug without the prescription, and one for carrying a knife to school.

One Holley-Navarre Middle School student was discovered with marijuana.

The other middle schools with students expelled included Hobbs with a student in possession of marijuana, King Middle with a student under the influence of marijuana, Sims Middle with two students - a boy and a girl - being expelled for a sexual offense, and Avalon Middle with a student charged with theft of a cell phone with a value over $300.

Milton High had the most students expelled this month, with three charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and one student for assaulting a school employee, with two more being expelled for possession of a controlled substance.

Pace High had four students sent to the Learning Academy, with two charged with possession and use of marijuana on school grounds, and one for having possession of a controlled substance, and the last student being charged with being under the influence of marijuana on school grounds.

Gulf Breeze News and the school board do not release the names of the students involved in the above infractions because they are minors.
