GB softball looking for offense The Lady Dolphin softball team put the bat on the ball a few times, but still couldn't plate a run in two games last week. GBHS has now gone four straight games without scoring a run. Navarre 7, Lady Dolphins 0 The Lady Raiders, who haven't lost to the Lady Dolphins in at least seven years, capitalized on five Lady Dolphins errors to score five runs in the fifth inning Feb. 19 in Navarre. Gulf Breeze committed a total of eight errors in the game. The Lady Dolphins finished the game with only two hits - a double by Deannette Zuniga and a single by Claire Koontz. Charlsie Langley and Natalie Alverson were the team's only other baserunners, drawing walks. GBHS batters also struck out 10 times in the game. Zuniga allowed only five hits in five innings, with four strikeouts, while Alison Milam fanned four in the sixth inning. Choctaw 9, Lady Dolphins 0 Miranda Michael, who threw a no-hitter and struck out 20 the week before, hit a two-run homer in a three-run fifth inning as the Lady Indians pulled away Feb. 20. Gulf Breeze had only three baserunners in the game, with Koontz accounting for two of them - on a walk in the first and a double in the fourth. Alexis Castanon singled in the seventh. The Lady Dolphins committed six errors in the game. Lady Dolphin JV 10, Navarre 6 Kasey Landfair homered for the second time this season - a two-run shot - while Jessica Watson went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored to lead the GBHS JV team past Navarre. Watson, Kelsey Hebert and Anndrea Marsh hit three straight RBI singles in a four run fourth, while Mallory Mead allowed only two hits and struck out 11. |
