NFLDraft hopeful visits GBHS

A defensive back at the University of Georgia, Johnson has been working out at the Andrews Institute for the past month getting ready for the NFLDraft.
Several GBHS classes were paid a visit by a potential professional football player last week. Kelin Johnson, a defensive back from the University of Georgia, spoke to roughly 100 students about making proper decisions on and off the field.

"It's good for these kids to hear someone else say these things and not think that's it just Coach Nemith lingo," head football coach Chris Nemith said. "He's the kind of player the NFLlooks for."

Johnson has been in Gulf Breeze for the past month getting ready for April's NFLDraft. He played in every game except for two in four years, ranking third on the team in tackles his junior year. He had 49 tackles this year, including 12 against Tennessee.

Johnson spoke about his friend and high school teammate Avery Atkins, a Florida signee who ran afoul of the law, got kicked off the UF team and was found dead in a car last July 5. "You just have to count your blessings, Johnson said.
