Fight to the Fort!
15-mile endurance challenge is Saturday

The Pensacola Sports Association and the National Park Service inaugurate the year of Ft. Pickens restoration with the 2008 Pensacola Sports Association's "FIGHT to the FORT Endurance Challenge," a 15-Mile race from the park entrance to the fort and back.

This event will challenge 300 endurance athletes to experience a race unlike any other, to run into territory teeming with resurgent wildlife between the beautiful shores of the Gulf of Mexico and Pensacola Bay.

The race will follow the park roadway, over pavement and through miles of unforgiving sand. Because of the unusual nature of this Endurance Challenge, athletes must be at least 16 years of age and provide documentation of participation in and completion of a 15K, half-marathon or marathon running event in the 120 days in which they have recorded an average pace of 15 minutes per mile or faster. You will be asked to supply qualifying documentation on your race entry form.

For details, or to register for the Fight to the Fort, call the Pensacola Sports Association at 434-2800 or visit www.pensacolasports.com.
