Brunty homers, Dolphins blank last year's state runners up

Kameron Brunty homered to start a six-run fourth inning as the Dolphins blanked Pine Forest 7-0 in a preseason game Friday in Gulf Breeze.

Pine Forest, who played in the 4A state championship game last season, made a pair of errors in the decisive inning.

Kris Matsoukas reached base on an error in the third inning and scored on a single by Shane Dorlag, who went 2- for-3 with two RBIs.

Corey Downs doubled in the fourth inning to score Brandon Scott, who reached on an error. Kolton Hanke reached on a fielder's choice and scored, while Bo Dobson reached on an error and scored.

Hanke hit a double in the win, while Dobson hit a single.

Thomas Dorsey was the first of six Dolphin pitchers Friday, striking out four in two innings. Luke Crooke, Downs, T.J. Jordan, Scott and Dobson also pitched.

Gulf Breeze opens the regular season Friday at Catholic. First pitch is at 6:30.
