Freshman leads Lady Dolphins to season opening win, 11-0
Milam throws three-hit shutout, hits three-run homer in 11-0 win

Alison Milam had as many hits as the entire West Florida squad, including a three-run homer and six runs batted in, to lead the Lady Dolphins to an 11-0, five-inning win over the Lady Jags in GBHS' season debut on Feb. 5.
Milam, who also hit a threerun double in the win, struck out seven and walked only one.
Ginny Coady's single in the second inning scored Claire Koontz and Kori Ewens, who both singled. Anna Schundelmier, who went 2-for- 2, singled to bring in Coady.
Gulf Breeze (2-1) tacked on five more in the fourth, capped off by Milam's three-run homer. Deannette Zuniga singled to plate Schundelmier before Milam's round-tripper that also scored Natalie Newell, who singled as part of her 3-for-3 night at the plate.
Natalie Alverson walked in the fifth inning before Catherine Lewis and Newell both singled. Milam brought them all home with a game-ending double.

Washington 3
Gulf Breeze scored six of its seven runs Thursday off wild pitches, passed balls or errors.
The Lady Dolphins needed single runs in the fifth and sixth innings as insurance against the Lady Cats.
Zuniga and Milam both scored on passed balls in the first inning, while Ewens walked and scored when Milam reached on an error in the second inning.
Rosie Atkinson's double in the fourth inning was the only hit to score a run in the game. She scored Milam, who reached on an error after Ewens walked.
Coady walked in the sixth inning and scored when Alexis Castanon reached on an error. Atkinson singled in the sixth inning and scored on a wild pitch.
Milam struck out eight and allowed only four hits in the win, walking two.
Pine Forest 5, Lady
Dolphins 3
A three-run homer in the top of the seventh was the difference as errors and baserunning blunders came back to haunt the Lady Dolphins as they suffered their first loss Friday.
Three errors helped Pine Forest take a 2-0 first inning lead. Charlsie Langley, who went 2- for-3, singled in the third inning to drive in Milam, who singled.
With two outs in the fifth inning, Milam reached third on a dropped third strike. She'd come around to score on a passed ball.
Koontz, who went 2-for-3, tripled in the sixth inning and scored on a wild pitch.
Zuniga struck out four and walked two for Gulf Breeze, giving up eight hits.
Lady Dolphin JV 7,
West Florida 6
Mallory Mead, who struck out six and gave up only four hits, scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth to give Gulf Breeze (3-0) a win.
Kelsey Hebert went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.
Lady Dolphin JV 21,
Washington 1
Rachel Viglione had three RBIs, two on a double, and scored three times as the GBHS JV team rolled over Washington.
Kasey Landfair scored three times and drove in a run, while Anndrea Marsh, Mead and Sarah Thibodeaux all scored twice and drove in one. Sam Diaz scored twice in the win, while Mead struck out five and gave up only one hit.
Lady Dolphin JV 8,
Pine Forest 2
Mead threw a no-hitter and struck out nine as Gulf Breeze rallied from a 2-0 second inning deficit Friday.
Viglione went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Adrian Culpepper went 2- for-3 with a run scored.
Morgan Bass added a tworun triple and scored twice, while Landfair scored twice.
Pace ninth grade 15,
Lady Dolphins 1
Caroline Waghalter scored and scored GBHS'' lone run in the fourth inning, but not before Pace scored three in the first and 11 in the second inning of the first of two in Pace Feb. 5.
Jessie Droogsma (single) and Bass (double) had the team's only other hits.
Lady Dolphins 9, Pace 2
Waghalter singled, doubled and scored twice, while Culpepper had two singles as Gulf Breeze won the nightcap.
Kellie Krueger scored twice for Gulf Breeze.
