Run for the World set for Feb. 23

The 18th Annual Run for the World will be held on Feb. 23 at 8 a.m. This 5K run/walk includes a pancake breakfast plus a chance to win a weekend for two accommodations at Hampton Inn, New Orleans, and much more. Habitat project changed

Bev Ishol, coordinator for Habitat for Humanity for St. Ann Catholic Church and Our Lady of the Assumption Mission, announced a change in the location and date of the parish's 13th project.

The details are:

New date: Feb. 16, blessing and groundbreaking. The next two Saturdays will be work days.

New location: 5606 Charter, Gulf Breeze

Directions: about five miles east of Wal-Mart, turn left onto America Avenue; turn left onto Congress; turn left onto Government; and right on Charter.

Some last-minute changes were made to the St. Ann/Our Lady Lenten Schedule. The current plan is:

St. Ann:

Mass: 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. every weekday from Feb. 6 to March 19

Mass: 8:30 a.m. first Saturday of the month

KC Fish Fry ($6 Adults $4 kids) every Friday 5 p.m.

Stations of the Cross every Friday 6 p.m.

Parish Reconciliation Service 6:30 p.m. March 12

Holy Week

March 16 Palm Sunday Procession 3 p.m.

March 20 Holy Thursday Mass 6:30 p.m.

St. Christopher's Episcopal donates $19,000 to charities

Ellen Lea and Mary Lewis, co-chairs of the Christmas Caravan at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, announce that over $19,000 was donated to area charities. Among the more than forty charities were , Alpha Center, Appetite for Life, Camp Happy Sands, Gulf Coast Kids House, Ronald McDonald House, St. Joseph's Medical Ministries, Salvation Army, United Ministries and YMCA.

The Christmas Caravan has been an annual tradition since founding of this Church fifty years ago.

Another outreach program, now in its third year, for St. Christopher's is the free Summer Serenade weekly series beginning Wednesday, June 4.

Sex ed planned at St. Sylvester

Author, columnist, and international speaker Mary Beth Bonacci will keynote at a conference on 'sexuality in today's society' for young adults, ages 18 - 35ish, on Saturday, March 1 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze. The conference begins at 8:30 a.m.

Mary Beth has written two books, We're on a Mission from God and Real Love, as well as writing regular syndicated columns for various publications. She does frequent radio and TV work and has made several appearances on MTV.

The conference focuses on various sexuality conflicts young adults' face in today's society. Topics of interest include Chastity within Your Vocation; Healthy Dating Relationships; Theology of the Body; Glory of God Revealed in the Human Body; Jesus, Media, and My Human Sexuality; Dating in Marriage: Enriching Your Relationship; Raising Ethical Children in Today's Society…to name just a few. Breakout sessions allow for discussion time with the presenters.

There are topics of interest for young adults of every vocation. Whether married, single, or divorced, with children or without, in the work place or in school, all young adults, ages 18 - 35ish are encouraged to attend. Free child care is provided.

Sponsored by the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, the day includes an opening prayer service, two keynote presentations, two breakout sessions, continental breakfast and lunch. Bishop John H. Ricard, S.S.J. will celebrate the opening prayer. Cost of the conference, $15.

A pre-conference social with music by Mass Confusion will take place on Friday, Feb. 29 at our Lady of the Assumption Parish on Pensacola Beach, from 7:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. All are invited to an evening of food, fun, and fellowship.
