The third time wasn't the charm for Tallahassee Godby, who gave up a pair of second half goals to Gulf Breeze, who went on to a 3-0 win in a regional quarterfinal match Saturday at Dolphin Stadium.

Godby (9-8-2) was making only its third postseason appearance, with the first two (3-2 in 1997, 8-1 in 2003) - both losses to Gulf Breeze.

The match was originally scheduled for Thursday, but tornado watches Thursday afternoon and evening forced the postponement.

The Dolphins (18-5-5) had the game's first good scoring chance when Brad Parrish's header of a Christian Mauldwin free kick required a leaping save by the Godby keeper.

A Godby shot went wide in the fifth minute, one of only a few chances Godby had in the first half.

In the 12th minute, Gulf Breeze got on the scoreboard as Stuart Parks hammered home a pass from Tommy Gibble.

A Dolphin free kick early in the second half had to be tipped over the crossbar by the Godby keeper. In the 56th minute, Godby was called for a foul in the box, resulting in an indirect kick.

During the confusion (the officials don't have to blow the play in - the offense can just take it) the Dolphins took advantage as Parks laid a pass to his left to Parrish, who put it away for a 2-0 lead.

A goal by Josh Ceravolo was waved off by a foul in the 70th minute.

Josh Epstein, who had a shot near the six-yard box tipped away in the 75th minute, rounded out the scoring three minutes later when he scored off a pass from Nick Malloy.

Richard Benson made only three saves for the Dolphins, who played Navarre for the fourth time this season in a a Region 1-4A semifinal match Tuesday (after the News' deadline) against Navarre.

A win would put the Dolphins in their second consecutive regional final and their third since 2003. The Raiders have been to the regional semifinals two other times, losing on both occasions.
