City celebrates Susie Spencer

Submitted photo Susie Spencer, pictured with husband Bob, has been Parish Administrator of St. Ann Catholic parish since 1986 and resigned for family reasons in January. Though she and her husband will continue to have a home in Gulf Breeze, they will spend most of their time in Elizabethtown, Ky. Before they left for the Bluegrass, however, Mayor Lane Gilchrist declared Jan. 22 "Susie Spencer Day" in Gulf Breeze. Citing Susie and Bob's contributions to the city over the years, the proclamation said in part, "Whereas Susie was an important key to our community's recovery form Hurricane Ivan and Hurricane Dennis….helped the city form and give life to the interfaith group called Interfaith Disaster Resources...now therefore I do hereby proclaim Susie Spencer Day."
