Gulf Breeze Elementary holding Book drive for foster children

Gulf Breeze Elementary is doing a book drive for foster children in Escambia and Santa Rosa County in partnership with Baptist Healthcare Foundation.

The school is collecting new and used books for ages 2-12. People can also make a cash donation at the school for books to be purchased. Checks need to be made out to Mike Rodgerson.

Pensacola Teen Board Prom Show Feb. 10

The girls of the Pensacola Teen Board, Inc. are having their annual Prom Show on Sunday, February 10 at Center Stage Ballroom on Davis Hwy in the old Food World shopping Center. There will be two showings at 2 and 4 p.m. Tickets are only $5.

The show will feature the year's hottest colors and styles featuring designs by Jovani, Nicole Bakti, La Femme, Studio 17 and Niteline.

The Teen Board will give away a grand prize of: dinner, dress, tanning membership, tuxedo, makeup and much more! Tickets can be bought from any Pensacola Teen Board member or at the Fashion Connection in Cordova Square.

A $250 cash prize will be awarded to the school with the most guests present.

Rep. Evers Announces page and messenger contest

Rep. Greg Evers (R-Milton) will begin accepting applications for the Page and Messenger Program for the upcoming Legislative Session. Each House member can sponsor one page (between the ages of 12 and 14) and one messenger (between the ages of 15 and 18).

To be selected, the contestant must fill out an application and write a short essay on what it would mean to be selected as a page or messenger and return it to Rep. Evers' office by February 15.

Santa Rosa Education Foundation seeking sponsors

The Santa Rosa Education Foundation is seeking sponsors for its annual Golden Apple Awards Banquet to be held on February 22 at New World Landing.

During this event honoring all teachers, the Santa Rosa School District will recognize the Teachers of the Year from each school as well as the teacher selected as the district's nominee for Florida Teacher of the Year 2009.

Sponsorship levels are available at Bronze $100, Silver $250, Gold $500, and Platinum $1,000, levels. Tickets to the event are $25 per person.
