Adrienne Leffard, an eighth grade flute player in the Gulf Breeze Middle School Symphonic Band, recently performed in Tampa with the All-State Middle School Band.

The All-State audition requirements were to play seven major scales in two minutes or less, a chromatic scale, two prepared exercises, and sightreading.

"I was ecstatic when I found out I made it!" Leffard said. "It was a very positive experience because I got to play with other kids my age that care about music just as much as I do."

"I made sixth chair out of 16 flutists. The performance was awesome! I got chill bumps while we were playing because it sounded so good! Our director, Mr. Don Snowden, of Pensacola, was very nice and helped with anything he could."

"My favorite thing about the whole experience was getting to play more challenging music than I usually play."

The performance included pieces such as "High School Cadets March," "In the Evening Quiet," "A Time To Dance." "John Williams in Concert" and "Green Hills Fantasy."
