Feds catch People's First suspect
BY FRANKLIN HAYES Gulf Breeze News franklin@gulfbreezenews.com

Dayton
Terry Dale Dayton, 37 was identified by FBI agents as the man they believe is responsible for robbing the People's First Bank in Gulf Breeze and First Gulf Bank in Pensacola last year. Federal agents caught up with him in North Carolina in November.

Dayton was indicted in a federal court in Pensacola on Jan. 23. The indictment alleges that Dayton robbed the People's First Banks of just over $4,000 and used a dangerous weapon to commit the crime. The federal investigators also believe Dayton was armed when he allegedly robbed the bank in Pensacola of more than $9,000.

Dayton is currently in custody in North Carolina, where he was indicted on Dec. 18 for three counts of robbery in that area.

Gulf Breeze Police say the pictures provided from the security cameras in the Gulf Breeze bank (above) were instrumental in Dayton's apprehension. Gulf Breeze Police also said Dayton used the same method of operation, using a bike to leave the scene and then avoiding capture by putting the bike in a van to leave the area.
