Flynn, Borges notch hat tricks - twice
Flynn had three goals in a 4-1 win over Fort Walton and three more in a 6-3 win over Catholic. Tommy Sweeney scored in the Fort Walton game, while Jacob Baker had two assists. T.J. Powers and Benji Luke both had assists, while Kevin Rogan had 11 saves for the 14- 3-3 Dolphins. Sweeney, Baker and Jeremy Vance all scored against Catholic. Baker and Jonathon Bell both had assists. Bob West and Beto Bressiani both scored for the '98 Dolphins against Milton. Borges also had two assists, while Tim Combs and Chad Bricks had one assist each. 1973 - The Dolphins turned the ball over 26 times in an 89- 66 loss to Catholic at Chumuckla. Tommy Pugh had 20 points, while David Napier had 15 and Ed Daniel 12. 1978 - The Lady Dolphins lost a tough one, 67-66, to Woodham. Laurie Anderson had 20 points, while Shelley Moody had 16. GBHS (7-7) followed that up with a 44-23 win over Walton. Melissa Seymer had 12 points, while Patti Stilson had nine points and 12 rebounds. John English had 20 points as the Dolphins went 10-for-10 from the free throw line in a 58- 50 win over Pace. 1983 - Steve Gouner and Wayne Davis both scored 14 points in a 69-42 loss to thirdranked Crestview. Gourner scored 30 points for the Dolphins in an 86-72 win over Rutherford. He was 13- for-18 from the field, while Ken Harley had 14 points and Paul Bassinger had 10. Eric Burgin scored twice, while Ricky Wirth, Guild Riley, Jay Tate, Al Castillo and Ross Woodley all scored once in a 7- 1 win over Tate. Burgin's second half goal was the difference as the Dolphin soccer team (7-5) handed Catholic its first loss of the season, 1-0 at Catholic. The Lady Dolphins got 17 points from Kelly Hippard and 10 from Traci Givens in a 53-44 loss to Tate. Gulf Breeze bounced back with a 52-40 win over Rutherford. Suzanne Sharpe had 18 points, while Debbie Neff had 13 rebounds. 1988 - Jennifer Wasson had 11 points, while Kriss Embree had 10 in a 48-41 loss to Central. Wasson had 27 points and Embree 15 in the Lady Dolphins' 53-47 win at Tate. The Lady Dolphin soccer team won its first two games in the district tournament, beating Escambia 6-3 and Washington 5-3. Clay Cibula scored 16 points for the Dolphins (7-9) in a 70- 50 loss to Escambia. 1993 - Chasidy Fisher scored 15 points, while Kris Niederlehner had 10 points and nine rebounds in a 60-46 loss to Pensacola High. The Lady Dolphins (1-16) missed the front end of a oneand one with 1.7 seconds left in a 27-25 loss to Freeport. Fisher had eight points in that game. Sweeney's goal midway through the second half salvaged a 1-1 tie with PHS. Rogan had five saves in the tie. Maureen McAuliffe and Aubrey Johnson both scored first half goals for Gulf Breeze (14-6-1), who clinched the top seed in the district tournament with a 2-1 win over Woodham. David Satterwhite scored 24 points, while Dave Gallagher had 18 in a 67-49 loss to Pensacola High. The Dolphins fell to 9-10 on the season. 1998 - Bree Bolster's 20 points led Gulf Breeze to a 53- 40 win over Pine Forest in the opener of the District 1-5A Tournament, before the Lady Dolphins lost to Washington in the semifinals 72-26. Bolster led GBHS with nine points against Washington, while Julie Deese added 12 in the Pine Forest win. Gary Wargo had nine points, and Jake Kiker had eight in the Dolphin basketball team's 57-45 loss to Milton. Shanna Van Slyke scored a goal and assisted goals by Colette Overlade and Gwendolyn Oxenham in a 3-0 win over Mosley. Nikki Matsoukas had four saves in the shutout for Gulf Breeze (8-2-2). The Lady Dolphins fell behind 3-0 to third-ranked and unbeaten Maclay (14-0) before a pair of second half goals made the final score close. Freshman Courtney Davis and Laci Thomas scored in the loss. 2003 - The fourth-ranked Lady Dolphin soccer team had its 38-game home win streak snapped by Chiles 2-1. Brandi Adams scored on a second half penalty kick. Caitlin Eggimann, Jessica Van Slyke and Shannon Wing all scored once in a 3-1 win over Washington. Annie Adams, Wing and Cecily Welsh had the assists for Gulf Breeze. Matt Forrest scored 11 points, while Joey Mozur and Ryan Bolster had 10 each in a 69-53 loss to Crestview. Washington snapped Gulf Breeze's seven-game win streak with a 3-1 win. Adam Schrock scored the lone goal for the Dolphins off a pass from Keith Savage. Chris Proctor scored nine points for a short-handed Dolphin squad, who lost to Bay 57-38. The Dolphins were short three starters due to injury or illness. Mallary Campbell went 9- for-14 from the field for 24 points in the Lady Dolphins' 61-27 win over Bay. Chelsey Adams added 11 points and 12 rebounds for Gulf Breeze, who snapped a sixgame losing streak. Campbell had eight points in a 65-27 loss to PHS.
