GBUMC announces upcoming events

A new Footprints Writing Workshop will begin on January 21 on the Main Campus of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, located at 75 Fairpoint Drive in Gulf Breeze. Footprints is a written guide to help participants record their memories so they will not be washed away. Cost of the sixweek class is $15 for materials. A Divorce Recovery workshop will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This will be held in Room 8 on the main campus. Call Paula Reed for any questions at 850-418-1904.

The 18th Annual Run for the World will be held on Feb. 23 at 8 a.m. This 5K run/walk includes a pancake breakfast plus a chance to win a weekend for two accommodations at the Hampton Inn, New Orleans. An Emerge Student Ministry dual campus event will be held Jan. 25-27. This Meltdown Retreat will be in Panama City Beach. This year's theme is "Go." It is designed to give middle and high school youth an exciting opportunity to strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ through engaging worship encounters, awesome teachings, and solid Christian community. Catholic sex ed conference is next month

The Catholic Diocese of Pensacola -Tallahassee annually presents a fellowship and formation opportunity for adults who minister or serve in the community or parish. The 2008 Conference theme focuses on an important truth for all who minister to others: Making personal formation a priority enables you to better serve others.

Keynoter Dr. Richard Johnson is nationally recognized for his pioneering work in Maturing Adult Faith Formation and Spiritual Gerontology. His fresh ideas on the spiritual aspects of adult development and aging have inspired scores of maturing adults to follow their hearts and live abundant lives in Christ.

Dr. Johnson, in addition to his keynote speech, will offer two workshops offering practical ideas for energizing churchbased adult formation programs.

More than 15 other workshops, ranging from teaching scripture using the arts, imagination spiritual exercises, spiritual direction, iconography, pilgrimage, prayer in the family offer something of value for any who attend. All are welcome.

First Baptist holds new Bible study

Come and take a journey through the book of Psalms with Beth Moore's "Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent," a Bible study at First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze exploring how the book of Psalms relates to everyday life while strengthening the walk with God. St. Ann to hold teen and parent program

The Family Honor "Real Love and Real Life" program has been scheduled for the weekend of Jan. 25. The schedule will be: Friday night, Jan. 25, from 6:45-9:15 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 26 from 5:15- 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Jan. 27 from 12:45-5:45 p.m.

The program is open to all teens ages 13 to 15 years old and their parents. It is fast paced and uses talks, skits, games, role-play and one-on-one parent teen time to help open lines of communication between parents and teens about some of life's biggest issues, such as chastity, dating behavior, and God's gift of sexuality. Parents, we invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to show your teens how important these issues are to you and to them.
