Friends of Gulf Breeze Library to host annual meeting
Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library will have their annual meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at the library, located at 1060 Shoreline Drive. There will be a short business meeting to consider the adoption of a revision to the friends' constitution and by-laws and elect new members to the board of directors.
The business meeting will be followed by a program on Archeological Research in Pensacola Bay featuring speakers Dr. Judy Bense and Christa Jordan from the University of West Florida's Department of Anthropology. Averette Mull, President of the Gulf Breeze Hospital Auxiliary wants to remind the public that the auxiliary is holding a uniform and shoe sale today from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospital lobby. Shoppers will find excellent prices on pants, tops, and jackets. Products from Dansko, KSwiss, Klogs, Merrell and Nurse Mates, will also be available in addition to medical accessories and stethoscopes. The Navarre Garden Club is 'digging it'
The Navarre Garden Club presents a 10 course series by The Florida Horticulture Study at St Augustine's Episcopal Church, on Highway 98, in Navarre, starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 12:30 p.m. These courses have a variety of topics from the basics of horticulture to hands-on workshops on specific subjects. Each unit is priced at $20 per class or the first six units for the price of $100.00.
Horticulture expert and instructor Tina Turtle designed this series for the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. It has an established horticulture curriculum and a handson, interactive session for each topic of interest. It was created for the general home gardener, garden club member, flower show school participants, floral design students and it is a compliment to flower show judges, certified master gardeners and anyone in the landscape design business. The course schedule is as follows: Course 1, Horticulture Basics on Feb. 16; Course 2, Annuals and Biennials on Feb. 23; Course 3, Herbaceous Perennials on March 1; Course 4, Woody Perennials /Arbor Trees and Shrubs on March 8;

The first class, Horticulture Basics, is suggested prior to any other subject in the series. Each class will consist of a lecture followed by a hands-on workshop. An In Course Certificate, from the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, will be issued to those who complete the 10 workshops. Light morning refreshments will also be served. The Emerald Coast Woman's Club
The Emerald Coast Woman's Club will hold its 12th annual Card and Game Charity Fund Raiser on Thursday, Feb. 21. The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Tuscan Grille located in The Club at Hidden Creek, Navarre. A buffet luncheon is included and will be served at 11:30 a.m. A cash bar is also available. This function is the club's main fundraiser and makes it possible for club members to contribute approximately $5,000 to a local charity each year.
Both men and women are invited to enjoy this fun filled day, which includes many door prizes and raffles prizes donated by local merchants. For example, two exciting raffle prizes are three day, two night stays at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi and the Inn of Destin Harbor with values up to $500. Additional prizes will be announced. Bake sales and book sales are also a new addition this year. A large variety of games are available to play such as bridge, canasta, bunco, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Yahtzee, Scrabble, backgammon and many others. Talk tables will also be included for those that don't care to play a game but love to people watch, eat and win prizes. Bring friends, neighbors and relatives.

The Emerald Coast Woman's Club members support local charities, civic organizations and projects. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at Sound Side Officers Club. Tickets for the Card and Game Charity Fund Raiser are $25 and may be purchased at the February monthly meeting or by calling Nancy Forester at 850-936-6889. All checks must be received no later than Thursday, Feb. 7.

Gulf Isle Neighbors
Remember that in March Gulf Isle Neighbors (GIN) present their annual fundraiser, Flash n' Fashion. The event is scheduled for March 12 at the Mustin Beach Officers' Club with a luncheon and fashion show benefiting the Zoo of Northwest Florida and the Salvation Army. Brenda Carraway of Fashion Connection will present fashions. Door prizes, raffles, and 50/25/25 will be included. A wonderful assortment of gift baskets will also be raffled to benefit our charities. GIN has over 100 members who work hard to give to local charities. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., lunch is at 12 p.m. and the fashion show is at 1 p.m. The cost is $25 per person.
Santa Rosa Shores Women's Club
The Santa Rosa Shores Women's Club held the first meeting of the new year at the lovely home of Anne Sessions on Park Lane. The girls were ready for fun after the holidays. Fran Fletcher called the meeting to order and the meeting was turned over to Jeanette Chandler and Shelia Bishop with Interiors by Decorating Den. After the informative program, a lovely buffet was served by hostesses Margaret Hoffman, Margaret Cunningham and Anne Sessions. Next month's meeting will be held at Mona Michael on Hillside Drive. The Santa Rosa Shores Women's Club meets the first Tuesday of each month and is open to any woman living in the Santa Rosa Shores area. For more information, call Fran Fletcher at 850-934-3837.
Pensacola Camellia Club
The Pensacola Camellia Club will have its annual camellia garden tours between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26. Three camellia gardens will be open to interested patrons. Bud and Bloom Garden Club
The Bud and Bloom Garden Club, a member of the Pensacola Federation of Garden Clubs, representing members in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, will plant a Bradford Pear Tree at 1820 W. Desoto Street. The event on Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. will will take place at a home built by Pensacola Junior College students. Acar pool to the home will meet at the Pensacola Garden Center at 9:30 a.m..
