Condiment burglar strikes again
BY FRANKLIN HAYES Gulf Breeze News franklin@gulfbreezenews.com

The condiment burglar was at it again last week, but this time he allegedly made off with credit cards and a vehicle instead of a handful of ketchup packets, sheriff's documents said.

Jereb Shane Johnson, 21, of Gulf Breeze was arrested on Jan. 7 on charges of third degree vehicular theft, credit card fraud, failure to appear in court for a felony charge and larceny.

Johnson made headlines in November when he allegedly broke a window and burglarized Cancun's Mexican Restaurant in Gulf Breeze, a week and a half before the eatery was raided by federal agents.

According to a police report, when asked what he was doing in the business while it was closed, Johnson allegedly removed several packets of mustard, ketchup and salad dressing from his pocket and said: "I was hungry and this is what I took."

Johnson later told the arresting officer that he was looking to steal beer. The officer reported noticing the smell of alcohol on his breath. Johnson allegedly admitted to taking a case of beer out of the cooler and leaving it in the restaurant. The report says police located a 12 pack of Sol Beer just outside the walkin cooler.
