Dolphins edge Chiles, lose at Catholic
Saturday loss compounded with Clements' rebreaking of foot

The Gulf Breeze Dolphin basketball team held off a pesky Chiles team in the Navarre Shootout on Friday before losing at archrival Catholic on Saturday.
Dolphins 72, Chiles 67
Despite shooting 59 percent from the field in the second half, the Dolphins had to hold off a late flurry from Chiles to win Friday at the Navarre Shootout.
Bryan Shreve, who scored a career-high 24 points, scored eight of them in the first quarter, six of them on three-pointers. He finished the game going 9- for-17 from the field as the Dolphins led 11-10 after one.
A three-point play put Chiles (9-6) into the lead at 19-18, but Gulf Breeze finished the half with a 12-4 run to make it 30-23 at the break.
Jeff White, who injured his ankle earlier in the game, hit a three-pointer to make it 37-26 Dolphins before Chiles scored on five of six straight possessions to pull within two.
Shreve would score the final six points of the quarter, two on a two-handed jam, to make it 54-46 heading into the fourth quarter.

Gulf Breeze led by as many as 12 in the final period, but a pair of Chiles free throws made it 67-64 with 55 seconds left. But Alec Cann would score a bucket in the lane before Shreve hit two free throws and White one in the final 20 seconds to seal the win.
White and Dustin Clements, who was 5-for-7 from the field, both finished with 10 points. Andrews had nine on 4-for-8 shooting, while Cann had seven, David Hibberts five and Erick Mims, Colin Kupris and Garrett Carr all had two each.
Hibberts had nine rebounds, while Clements had eight. Mims and Shreve both had five assists.
Choctaw 51, Dolphins 38
The hosts of the Playground Tournament outscored Gulf Breeze 27-18 in the second half of a Dec. 29 game in Fort Walton.
Carr led the Dolphins with eight points, while Cann and White had seven each, Clements six, Shreve five, Hibberts and Cann two each and Matt Catellier one.
Clements had eight rebounds, while Hibberts had six and Cann five. Shreve had four assists, while Mims had five steals.
