Mardi Gras season kicks off Jan. 12 The streams of "Auld Lang Syne" may still ring in our ears, but it is already time to dust off the purple and green regalia and "laissez les bon temps roulet!" to kick off Mardi Gras season. Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, fluctuates each year according to the moon phases. It is always the day before the Lenten season begins, which ends on Easter Sunday.
