ALABAMA (#1)
Alabama has been No. 1 for several weeks now, but it took a 36-0 rout of Auburn to reclaim the top spot in TM the state. The margin was the largest since the 1962 Bama team demolished the Tigers 38-0. Nick Saban has done exactly what Bama fans hoped he would: wrest control of the state from Auburn, win the SEC West and compete for a national championship.

AUBURN
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The Good: This miserable season is finally over. The Bad: It won't end ® with a bowl game for the first time in nearly a decade. The Ugly: Losing a six-year winning streak over Alabama in a 36-0 demolition job.

FLORIDA (#4)
Another week, another blowout. Florida extended its winning streak ® over FSU to five years, and in very convincing fashion. Many said the rain would slow the Gators down, and they were right. But FSU played in it, too, and it also slowed them down. The Gators ran over, around and through the Noles and kept their national title hopes alive.

GEORGIA (#16)
The Bulldogs have long abandoned any hopes of a SEC or national title, and the only thing that could make their season worse is to lose their state championship - which they did. You can blame it on off-field issues, offensive-line injuries or being the most undisciplined team in the conference. Whatever the reasoning, the result remains the same.

LSU
The 2008 LSU team is the perfect metaphor for the SEC as a whole. Before the season, and for the first half of the season, it was believed to be big and scary. But in reality, it was nothing more than a scary looking, but brittle shell with no substance beneath - nothing to raise an eyebrow at.

FLORIDA STATE (#24)
Though the 2008 FSU team looked much improved from the past few seasons, it is apparent ® after the 45-15 beatdown at the hands of Florida that the Noles still have a long way to go to regain equal footing with the Gators. This team was a few plays away from competing for the ACC championship, but mistakes and inconsistency kept them out.

MIAMI
The Canes are also getting closer to competing for an ACC crown. Seasonending losses to Georgia Tech and N.C. State prevented them from realizing that dream. The Canes are still a work in progress, but the foundation for a good team is soundly in place.

CENTRAL FLORIDA
Finishing the season on a three-game winning streak was just a little too much to ask of this Knights team. The offense reverted back to its horrible ways by getting shut out by UAB. UCF only managed to gain 209 total yards and is left wondering who will step up and provide this team with an offensive spark next year.

SOUTH FLORIDA
After a weekend off, the Bulls prepare to face West Virginia this Saturday. Both teams are eliminated from Big East title contention, which is surprising as they were the two favorites to win it. This game was supposed to be a showdown for the crown, but instead it is merely a battle to reach eight wins.

SOUTHERN MISS
USM is the comeback story of the season. After falling to 2-6 after a five-game losing streak, fan and alumni support for Larry Fedora was waning, the Eagles' streak of winning seasons ended, and they were staring at their first losing season in 15 years.
