'Tough' decisions face county's school board
Budget to get much tighter next year
      The county schools are in worse trouble than the district originally thought at the beginning of this budget year. The projected budget shortfall of the district for the 2008-09 school year currently stands at $8.7 million. "We just found this out in the last couple days," Santa Rosa Schools Superintendent John Rogers said last week.

Burleigh brings experience to GCC Bank
      Cathy Burleigh joins Gulf Coast Community Bank as Branch Manager and Assistant Vice-President. She will manage the bank's new Gulf Breeze location at 2871 Gulf Breeze Parkway. The branch expects to open by Nov. 1.

Gulf Coast Friends plan Nov. 13 'glitz'
      Gulf Coast Friends' annual craft fair has a new look this year. In addition to club members, outside vendors will be displaying their works. The book table will include CDs and DVDs. As always, many delicious baked goods and jellies will be for sale. Gift baskets will be raffled, and a silent auction will take place.

GB Presbyterian celebrates 25 years
      Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church will celebrate it 50th anniversary with two days of worship and fellowship at 100 Andrew Jackson Trail. The grand occasion begins with Saturday's (Oct. 25) Fall Festival from 4 to 5:30 p.m. that will include fun and games for the entire family. A picnic supper will coincide with the festival from 5 to 6:15 p.m.

LaDue, Williamson agree: Zoo shouldn't get county $
      If it is up to either of the two candidates on the ballot for the remaining contested seat on the Santa Rosa County Commission, the financially strapped Zoo Northwest Florida will not receive any more taxpayer monies. Stacia LaDue, registered as Non Partisan Affiliation, is running for the District 1 commission seat now held by Tom Stewart.
