Candidates Forum II planned for Oct. 13
      Candidates Forum II, the second political forum sponsored by the Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13 at Calvary Chapel, 1140 Harrison Avenue in Gulf Breeze. Floridatown County Park in Pace will be the site of the third 2008 Democratic Political Rally in Santa Rosa County. The event will be from 2 until 4:30 p.m.

Block grant might help fund septic abatement
      The City of Gulf Breeze has applied for a Community Development Block Grant that could fund septic-tank abatement along York Street and street resurfacing for Shirley Drive and McClure Street. The city could qualify for up to $650,000 to help fund the projects.

Zoo plans activities for fall season
      The Zoo Northwest Florida is a year away from its silver anniversary. It hopes to be around to celebrate it. Harrell to succeed Ratliff in schools
SANTA ROSA COUNTY
      Joey Harrell, Transportation Director for Santa Rosa County Schools, will be promoted to Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services after Steve Ratliff retires at the end of this year. The announcement was made at last week's School Board meeting. Harrell thanked Board members for their vote of confidence.
