Don't slam the 'Dores
Vanderbilt is ranked for the first time in over 20 years
Two Sundays ago, Vanderbilt woke up ranked in the AP and USA Today polls after defeating Ole Miss 23-17 in Oxford. After a week off, the Commodores are still 4-0 overall, 2-0 in SEC play and ranked 19th. This marks Vandy's first appearance in the polls since 1984, when my uncle, Kurt Page, was quarterbacking the 'Dores in his senior season.

ALABAMA (#2/4)
The 11-point victory doesn't accurately describe the beatdown Bama put on UGA. The Crimson Tide dominated every facet of the game. Bama could be the best team in the SEC and maybe the nation; they certainly have been thus far. It seems, however, that every team is vulnerable every week this season.

AUBURN (#13/14)
Offensive coordinator Tony Franklin keeps saying, "We're very close to turning the corner." Well, are they ever going to, or will the Tigers continue to just peek around the corner? Something ® must change as AU is 10th in the SEC in scoring and total offense.

FLORIDA (#12/13)
The Gators dropped out of the Top 10 after being upset by ® Ole Miss 31-30. In a game where Tim Tebow consistently overthrew open receivers, UF's offense managed to gain 443 yards but fumbled five times, losing three. The miscues allowed the Rebs to stay in the game and eventually sneak out a victory.

GEORIGA (#11/10)
The Blackout turned into a knockout. UGA looked and played like it didn't belong on the field with Alabama. Costly penalties helped put the Dawgs into an early hole. Undisciplined play has bugged them all season as they are the most penalized team in the SEC. Knowshon Moreno was a "Knowsho" Saturday night, rushing for 34 yards.

LSU (#3/2)
Should LSU be concerned after allowing 24 points to a pitiful MSU offense? If so, it has two weeks to correct some things before traveling to Gainesville to take on Tim Tebow and the Gators. The Tigers' offense continues to improve, going over 400 total yards and 34 points against the Bulldogs.

FLORIDA STATE
The offense got back on track against Colorado, especially the young offensive line. FSU racked up 259 yards on 46 ® attempts for an average of 5.6 per rush. This should give the unit some much-needed confidence heading into the heated rivalry with Miami, which limited Florida to 89 rushing yards.

MIAMI
UM blew a late 10-point lead to lose to UNC 28-24. Miami had more passing and rushing yards and more first downs, but it also had more turnovers. Robert Marve was intercepted twice in the fourth quarter, helping UNC to the win. The Canes will have a chance to bounce back this weekend against rival FSU.

CENTRAL FLORIDA
The Knights got rolled 58-13 by previously winless UTEP to move their record to 1-3 for the season and 0-1 in Conference USA. UCF allowed double-digit points in every quarter and helped the Miners with six turnovers in their third straight loss. To be fair, UTEP's kicker did make a 64-yard field goal. Who can stop that?

SOUTH FLORIDA (#10)
USF has moved into the Top 10 for the second straight season after dismantling N.C. State 41-10. It didn't take Matt Grothe and the Bulls long to rebound from a sub-par performance against Florida International as they racked up 520 yards of offense in the win. It now appears that the Big East crown is the Bulls' to lose. Their conference opener is tonight vs.

SOUTHERN MISS
USM has had two weeks to bounce back from a tough loss to Marshall and prepare to take on UTEP, which scored 58 points against UCF. The Eagles (2-2, 0-1) are looking to even their Conference USA record Saturday and should be able to move the ball on the Miners, who rank 102nd in scoring D and 100th in passing D (they rank 93rd in total yards).
