Last week was a week of uncertainty for us living along the Gulf Coast as we watched the track of Hurricane Ike as it spun across the Atlantic waters. Although we were spared, we still felt the results of this energetic storm. The waves crashing against the fishing pier, and all along the beach, were beautiful even as they carried great potential for danger. More ... Thousands came to Pensacola Beach over the weekend to see the huge waves on the fringe of Hurricane Ike, but sadly, two visitors didn't make it home alive. Bob West, Santa Rosa Island Authority Public Safety Director, said two men died in separate incidents Sunday. More ... Monday, Oct. 6 is the last day to register to vote for those who wish to cast a ballot in the November 4 General Election. At the September 10 board meeting, Santa Rosa Island Authority members again saw the proposal local architects presented showing a new plan for parking and retail opportunities on Pensacola Beach, but reminded those present that a funding source is yet to be identified. Corvettes, corvettes and more corvettes will take center stage at the Casino Beach parking lot as the "Life's a Beach" Corvette Show returns with rows of gleaming cars. Free and open to the public. " Life's A Vette on the Beach" Car Show, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. More ... Hey everyone: We are Bianca and Opie. We both were brought into the shelter in early 2004. We did not come in together but we soon fell in love.We were shelter pets for several years and enjoyed our time being pampered and loved by the staff. However, we are excited about finding a loving home to spend the rest of our years together. We are both altered, feline leukemia negative, and have never missed a meal!! We are very mellow cats, but since we have been spoiled we really just like to lounge around and relax. So we would prefer to find a home with adults only or older children. The way we see it, we should be the children of the house!!! We have been patiently waiting to find an inside only home who will take us together.
