Back-to-school checkups
      The South End Santa Rosa Health Clinic held a Back to School Bash on Saturday, July 26. The clinic offered free back-to-school physical exams, free immunizations and vision tests. Kaylen Houldin, 6, just moved to Gulf Breeze and will be attending Oriole Beach Elementary. She didn't need any shots, but went through the eye tests and physical with a smile.

School board prepared to acquire HBTS acreage

      Another new school may be in Navarre's future. The Santa Rosa School Board voted last week to set up a closing date on property off Edgewood Drive in Holley By The Sea, even though the district's Gulf Breeze property had not closed on a separate contingency sale.

Bus transportation department working for smooth transition

      Santa Rosa County School District has more substitute 'bench' bus drivers than ever before to start the year. District transportation director Joey Harrell told the School Board last week that 82 bench drivers are on board countywide to start the approaching school year, and 192 routes have fulltime drivers assigned. School starts Aug. 18.

School Board to visit GBHS on Aug. 5 for meeting

      The Santa Rosa County District School Board will conduct a town hall meeting at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the Gulf Breeze High School Cafeteria. The meeting is one of several planned for each community of Santa Rosa County in the coming weeks.
