St. Ann teacher to cut hair in child's honor

Casey Wheeler, a former student and current teacher at St. Ann Discovery School in Gulf Breeze, will have 10 inches of her hair cut at 9 a.m. Friday, July 11, as part of a grand-opening for a new playground set.

Wheeler will donate her hair to Locks of Love in honor of cancer patient Lindsey Adams, a former Gulf Breeze youngster who suffers from retinal cancer. The condition occurs in early childhood and affects about one child out of 20,000.

"It really warms our hearts to see the children playing on the new playground equipment," Shirley Chase said. "We have waited a long time for this, and finally our dream has come true."

St. Ann Discovery School was established in 1987 and accommodates ages 3 months through Pre K. It also offers an afterschool program. The school is located in junction with St. Ann Catholic Church at 100 Daniel Drive in Gulf Breeze.

Calvary Chapel

Calvary Chapel non-denominational church of Gulf Breeze is planning its next Beach Baptism for 5 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Park East on Pensacola Beach.


Members, guests and friends will congregate for a time of worship and fellowship as a Calvary Chapel is dedicated to equipping believers by teaching the Bible and following the leading of the Holy Spirit by practicing simplicity in church

government and placing emphasis on worship and study.

GB Methodist

Tenor Lee Bailey will perform a concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, July 13, in the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church sanctuary.

Bailey has performed for professional opera, musical theatre, film and television for most of his life. Son of celebrated opera singer Dennis Bailey, Lee came into the music world at a young age. Since then, he has worked his way to a professional career in opera, musical theatre and Christian music. He specializes in Helden Tenor Repertoire through Dramatic Opera.

Bailey is currently touring the country to present concerts in support of his Sacred album 'My Heart's Passion Volume I & II' and his Musical Theatre album 'After The Show.

Family Movie Nights are held each Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Community Life Center on Soundside Drive at Highway 98. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy some family classics on the indoor big screen. The movie and popcorn are free, and so is the fun.
