If you plant it, it will grow
Students at Oriole Beach Elementary School learned about plant life and recently beautified the school grounds. Joann Shields' thirdgrade class planted a variety of plants and flowers in the Bennett C. Russell flowerbed. The planting was a project that worked in conjunction with the class' science curriculum on plant life. "Each student got to plant their own plant of choice," Shields said. "It was a great way for them to learn whether the flowers were perennials or annuals." Shields' husband, Casey, owner of Shields Lawn Care, LLC, in Gulf Breeze, donated all of the plants and agreed to maintain the upkeep on the flowerbed. Scott Page/Gulf Breeze News
