Gulf Power requests hike that could raise prices by 11.3 percent
      Citing double-digit increases in the price of natural gas and coal, Gulf Power Company is asking the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) to approve an increase in electricity prices to cover a $76 million shortfall in 2008 revenues.

      A Gulf Breeze man, Daniel L. Niemczyk, 50, died shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by two vehicles while attempting to cross U.S. Highway 98 near Abercrombie Road in Midway.

Businesses busted selling beer to people under age 21
      On Wednesday, June 18, Santa Rosa County Sheriff's deputies teamed with agents from the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco to do "test buys" in Santa Rosa County. This operation was done in an effort to curb sales of alcohol to underage individuals in the county.
