Tiger Point Park sidewalks crumbling
      Tiger Point Park's sidewalks were not included in the threephase park improvement plan, despite their deplorable condition. The problem, however, has not been ignored. On Thursday, June 12, the County Commission adopted an $81,000 critical needs expenditures plan for Tiger Point Park endorsed by the District Five Recreation Advisory Committee.

      The City of Gulf Breeze charges a water "tap" or impact fee depending on the size of the meter ordered by a business, as well as how many gallons of wastewater are generated each day and how many plumbing fixtures the business includes in its construction plans.

County refunds impact fees
      Santa Rosa County is giving back $229,931 to 11 subdivision developers who were unaware that the money was coming their way. The action is part of the amendment process of the county's impact fee ordinance and was approved during the last county meeting.

      Citizens might not have to take time out of their regular workday between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. soon to do their county business, like obtaining permits or paying fees. The Santa Rosa Commission plans to consider a proposal for a four-day workweek for some county employees.

Bense to be UWF interim president
      The University of West Florida Board of Trustees approved Dr. Judy Bense, executive director of UWF's Division of Anthropology and Archaeology, as interim president. Bense will temporarily fill the position that will become vacant July 1 when current UWF President John Cavanaugh assumes his new role as chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
