Strategic trees, shrubs left little to our imagination
      Last week, I read a small news item in our beloved Gulf Breeze News about an artist who has been commissioned to paint a mural in a local retirement home. It brought back memories of a day long ago when my husband-to-be, who was 18 at the time, was commissioned to do the same thing, except that his mural was to be in a popular bar in Philadelphia.

Century Plant grows skyward
     Marie Miclo of 212 Dolphin Street is pictured with her Century Plant on April 28 (left) and May 23. The plant, native to Mexico, only occasionally flowers, sometimes to a height of 25 feet. The plant's lifespan is about 25 years. Sadly, it dies after flowering.

Senior Chill Out seeks help

      Covenant Hospice is seeking compassionate teen volunteers who are interested in making a difference in the lives of patients and families facing end-of-life issues. Ateen volunteer training workshop will be held from noon to 4 p.m.
