Dolphin football prepares for Blue and Gold Game
      The Dolphin football closed out last week with a scrimmage at Dolphin Stadium. The team will hold its Blue and Gold game Friday at 6 p.m. "Stepping out on that game field is a whole new deal," head coach Chris Nemith said.

PFC's run ends in state semifinals
      The Pensacola Futbol Club's Lady Wolves, made of mostly 16 and 17 years old playing in a U18 bracket, gave up an early second half goals and two late ones to lose to the RSL Tampa Knights 3-0 in the semifinals of the Florida Youth Soccer Association's State Cup Saturday at the Pace Soccer Complex.

Simon named NHS girls soccer coach
      Former GBHS coach Rob Simon became the girls varsity soccer coach at Navarre last week. Simon was an assistant for Eric Miles at GBHS from 2003-07, helping them to two state tournament appearances, included a state runners up finish in 2007. Simon takes over for Jeff Knapp, who will be Simon's assistant.

GB track celebrates stellar season with awards banquet
      The Gulf Breeze High track program celebrated one of its best seasons ever with their annual awards banquet May 12 in the GBHS cafeteria. The boys team, won finished third at state and had all six of its state tournament qualifiers medal, were introduced first by coach Greg Hundley.

      The Gulf Breeze High baseball program celebrated its third consecutive winning season at their annual awards banquet Thursday at First Baptist Church. After the players, parents and friends enjoyed a catered meal, each of the three teams were honored for their athletic and academic feats.

Lady Dolphin softball team holds its awards banquet
      The Gulf Breeze High softball program commemorated its season with their annual awards banquet May 14 at the GBHS softball field. Breezy Paulus won the ninth grade team's Coaches Award, while Anndrea Marsh was the JV teams Coaches Award. Deannette Zuniga and Kori Ewens were the varsity's team Coaches Award.

      The Gulf Breeze Optimist Club held its 33rd annual Fishing Rodeo Saturday and Sunday at Shoreline Park. Award winners were as follows: Amberjack - 1) Bart Moore (23.6 pounds), 2) Kim Gooch (23.5), 3) Mike Majors (19.9). Bluefish - 1) Jeff Pollard (1.95), 2) Jody Holcomb (1.93), 3) Tim Kast (1.84).

GB U12 team second at Cinco de Mayo
      The U12 Interleague Gulf Breeze Dolphins placed second in the recent Navarre Cinco de Mayo Baseball tournament. Due to rain, the Dolphins had to play four games in less than 24 hours, which caught up with them in the championship game.

Cardinals edge Phillies in Tiger Point 10-under baseball action
      Matt Cronin went 2-for-2 and scored once, while Emery Nelson scored twice in the Cardinals' 7-4 win over the Phillies in recent Tiger Point 10- under baseball action. Brett Schoenwolf went 2-for- 3 and scored twice for the Phillies.
