Dolphin football team hoping new positions result in more wins
Several players could see time on both sides of the ball in 2008
      Coach Chris Nemith is hoping that history can repeat itself. When Nemith took the football head coaching job in April 2003, the program was as low as it could get. That 2003 team came in after going 0-10 the year before and as the old movie goes, they were mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. The result was the team's fifth playoff berth in school history.

Tryon helps Rhodes win conference championship Mabry eighth in pole vault at ACC Championships
      Rhodes College sophomore Kim Tryon (GBHS Class of '06) recently helped the Lady Lynx track team win the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Tryon won the pole vault (10 feet) and was second in the triple jump (34 feet, seven inches).

Area lifters set state records at Powerlifting Championships
      Several lifters who work out at Chip's 24 Hour Health and Racquet Club set state records at the recent Florida State Powerlifting Championships in Pensacola. Chip Holston, owner of Chip's, set a state record in the Raw Powerlifting 220-pound Sub-Masters division. He squatted 565 pounds, bench pressed 475 pounds and dead lifted 575 pounds for a total of 1,615 pounds.

     GBHS juniors Alyssa Smith, Jesse Vickrey, Amanda Green and Aubrey Curington will look to help the Pensacola Lady Wolves U17 soccer team win the Florida Youth Soccer Association's State Cup this weekend at the Santa Rosa Soccer Complex in Pace.      Catholic High senior and Gulf Breeze resident Samantha Freeman recently signed a volleyball scholarship with Stetson University. Also pictured are (seated) parents Daniel and Grace Freeman. Back from left: Director of Volleyball Pensacola Bill Healey, Catholic head coach Felicia Terharr, assistant coach Farley Dotson and Dennis Rosele, head of Rosele Sports Consulting. Sidelines wins three straight to start GBSA softball season
      Avery Curington, Blair Amberson, Rainey Niles and Rachel Greer all scored three times in Sidelines' 14-5 win over Messer in GBSA 8-under softball action. Ashley Kekeisen had three hits and scored twice, while Erin Bailey chipped in three hits. Meagan Hoffman, Taylor Thomas, Reagan Raley, Hallie Hill and Chyann Redman all singled and scored once in the loss.

Cubs edge A's in Tiger Point action
      Dalton Renfroe and Daniel Brayton both scored three times for the A's' 13-12 loss to the Cubs in recent Tiger Point Sports Association 8-under baseball action. Dylan Brayton scored twice, while Romi Garay and Liam Werner both scored once.

Robinson honored as GBHS' top senior girl
      Jackie Robinson was chosen as the outstanding senior from Gulf Breeze High School and was recognized during the April 24 meeting of the Santa Rosa County School Board in Milton. The Milton Woman's Club presented medallions to Robinson and a female senior from each of the county's high schools.

Gulf Breeze Yankees take second at Wood Bat Tournament in Pace
      The U12 Yankees earned a USSSA AA World Series berth with a second place finish in the 10 team field from Alabama and Florida at the Pace wood bat NIT. The Santa Rosa Sportsplex in Pace, FLwill host the July 13- 20 World Series event.
