Dolphins look to turn page
New attitude, new faces hope to erase 2-8 season from a year ago
      The Gulf Breeze Dolphin football program recently took part in a program called Bigger Faster Stronger, a program that strives to improve a player on and off the field. The Dolphins are hoping to add a second B to what they've learned in BFS - that's B for better.

Bayside's U12 girls bridesmaids no more
Harpole scores in all four games, Bayside team wins first tournament in eight tries
      The Bayside U12 girls soccer team figured that eight was enough. After finishing runners up in seven straight tournaments, Bayside beat the Pensacola Futbol Club's Lady Wolves 2- 0 in the final of the 25th annual Gulf Coast Invitational Sunday at Brosnaham Park.

      2008 GBSA football, soccer registration underway Registration is now underway for kids wanting to play football or soccer for the Gulf Breeze Sports Association in 2008. Football is open for kids ages 5-14, while soccer is open for kids ages 4-14.

Thomas signs with South Alabama
Three-time state medalist first GBHS male college track athlete in six years
      Will Thomas, less than week off his threemedal performance at the state meet, signed a cross country and track scholarship Friday with the University of South Alabama. "I really like the coaches there," said Thomas, adding that USA was the first offer he received. "It should be a great opportunity.

Dolphins hold first Lift A Thon
      The Gulf Breeze Dolphin football team held its inaugural Lift AThon fundraiser Friday in the GBHS Gym. Players solicited pledges based on how many reps they could perform on the bench press. Players had the option of benching 70 percent of their body weight or 70 percent of their 'max' lift.

Senior girls win annual GBHS Powder Puff game
      The senior class edged the juniors 6-0 in the final of the annual Gulf Breeze High Powder Puff Game, marking the third straight year the graduating class has won the game. Seniors 6, Juniors 0 Brittany Clay scored on a 14- yard run for the game's only score. Ashley Collins had a pair of long runs to set up the score.

Mayes edges Remax in GBSA Rookie League action
      Ben Zimmer had three hits and three runs scored, while Daniel Green had four hits and two runs scored in Mayes' 13-9 win over ReMax in recent GBSA Rookie League action. Duke Chastain went 3-for-4, while Raphe Clarkin and Joe Lloyd both scored twice in the win.

Ponytails lose in Tiger Point 8-under softball action
      Talia Bogan went 3-for-3 and scored three times as Gulf Breeze beat the Ponytails 15-8 in recent Tiger Point 8- under softball action. Kara Dorsey scored twice, while Kamryn Hearn, Chloe Wynn and Kelsey Warnke all scored once.

From Powder Puff 2008 to Powder Poof 2009?
      One of the great things about this job is, at times, there's something unique to cover. And they doesn't get any more unique that the annual GBHS Powder Puff Game. During the football season, it's the girls cheering on the guys. Here, it's the other way around. Some of them took that literally, dressing up in cheerleading attire.
