Portofino Spa closes due to state requirement
      The Portofino Medical Spa was forced to close due to a state requirement mandating that all medical spas must have a full-time, on-site medical director, according to a notice on the front door of the building. Dr. Kevin Welch is honoring most of the gift certificates purchased at the spa.

School board works to negotiate contracts
      There may be a new school bus contractor transporting kids to school next year. That contract, as several other long term contracts for the school district, is now being negotiated between more than one possible bidder, according to Santa Rosa School Superintendent John Rogers.

      The Driftwood Garden Club was in for a treat on their annual field trip when they drove to Gordon and Betty Sprague's Antique Car and Farm Machinery Museum in Gulf Breeze. Gordon Sprague was there to meet the group and introduce them to Sprague museum.

Every little bit counts
     The Gulf Breeze Brownie Girl Scout Troop # 252, left, sent 50 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to the troops serving in Iraq. The girls, raised money through donations. They made thank you cards and a banner to send along with the treats to show their support and to give the troops a little taste of home.
