The Gulf Breeze Dolphin baseball team dropped another close district game Thursday, losing 7-6 in 10 innings at West Florida. All four of GBHS' district losses have come by a total of eight runs. Gulf Breeze took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Kris Matsoukas walked and scored on a single by Patrick Vance. More ... The Lady Dolphin softball team rallied from two deficits to win two games early last week, but a two-run triple and a grand slam were too much to overcome in an 8-2 loss to Navarre. The Lady Raiders, who are unbeaten in district play and haven't lost to Gulf Breeze since 2000, took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a dropped fly ball and a bloop single. More ... The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin track team finished third at the 15-team Pace Patriot Invitational Thursday. Gulf Breeze finished with 65 points, only two points behind runner up Navarre. Pine Forest won with 164.5 points, while PHS was fourth, Escambia fifth and West Florida sixth. More ... From left: Aubrey Curington, Amanda Green, Jesse Vickrey and Alyssa Smith and their Pensacola Futbol Club Lady Wolves teammates will play in the first round of the 2008 Florida Youth Soccer Association's State Cup this weekend in Naples. The quartet has won two state titles while at PFC and have led the Lady Dolphin soccer team to the state tournament each of the last two years. The PFC U14 and U13 girls teams (which also have several Gulf Breeze players on them), as well as Bayside's U16 boys team will also open State Cup play this weekend. More ... Eight members of the Dolphin weightlifting team will compete in the Section 1-A meet April 5 in Panama City. The Gulf Breeze Elementary School Run will be Thursday, March 28 at 4 p.m. The approximate two mile course will start and end on the elementary school soccer field. Runners should be at the school by 3:45 p.m. Race day registration is from 3:30 to 3:45. More ... The Gulf Breeze tennis teams posted a non-district win over Pace on March 18. The boys won 6-1, while the girls lost a total of three tiebreakers and had a retirement due to injury, but held on to win 4-3. More ...
