GB cheerleaders eighth at state
      The Gulf Breeze High varsity cheerleading squad took eighth place at the recent Florida High School Athletic Association's first ever Competitive Cheerleading competition in Boca Raton at Florida Atlantic University. "I couldn't be more proud of the girls," varsity cheerleading advisor Amy Askegren said. "The first time we did the routine, it didn't go that great.

Lady Dolphin track wins Pizza Hut Relays
Lady Dolphins set two school records, boys finish fourth
      The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin track team won its second big invitational track meet of the season Saturday, winning the 10-team Pizza Hut Relays at Tate High School. The Lady Dolphins finished with 92 points, easily defeating runner up West Florida (72). Washington was third, followed by Milton and Tate.

Five-run seventh gives Milton game one win, Gulf Breeze wins nightcap 5-1
      The Gulf Breeze Dolphin baseball team bounced back from a heartbreaking loss in game one of a doubleheader in Milton Friday to win the nightcap 5-1. Gulf Breeze (7-5 overall) led 5-3 after six innings before the Panthers scored four runs with two outs to win 8-6.

U15 Barracudas win again
P'cola Beach Volleyball Club team wins fourth straight tourney
      The Pensacola Beach Volleyball Club's U15 team had to work overtime - three times, in fact - but were still able to win their fourth consecutive tournament Sunday at Lizardfest at UWF. The Barracudas, who won all six games Saturday by an average of 10 points, had to play three three-set matches to win the title Sunday.

Eight Dolphins lifters qualify for sectionals
Jags beat Dolphins 46-44 in regular season meet in Gulf Breeze; sectionals April 5 in Panama City
      The Gulf Breeze Dolphin weightlifting team will send eight lifters to the Section 1-A meet April 5 in Panama City as a results of their efforts at the district meet Monday at Gulf Breeze. Eight is the most Gulf Breeze has sent to sectionals in Chris Nemith's five years as coach.

Bronze winners
     Natalie Welsh, Allison Proctor, Caitlin Sacco and Korrie Abernathy helped Southeast United win the Bronze championship in the U13 division at the recent Vulcan Cup in Birmingham. The SEU team, coached by former Lady Dolphin soccer coach and current PFC coach Mike Lagow, had to dodge some snowflakes while playing in the tournament.

      Kyle Cormier (GBHS c/o '04), competing in his first swim meet in seven months, earned a pair of top five finishes at the the 2008 Speedo Champions Series Spring Sectional Championships held March 6-9 in Nashville, Tennessee.

      The recreational and commercial harvest of red, gag and black grouper in Gulf of Mexico federal waters and the commercial harvest of these species in Gulf state waters reopened last week.

Group looking for a few good bird hunters
      The local chapter of the Florida Sportsman Club is looking for hunters for the upcoming season. A limited number of memberships for the 2008 dove hunting season are available at a cost of $265. Hunters under the age of 16 pay only $35 and shooters between ages 16-21 are only $60.

      The Gulf Breeze U12 Yankees won two of their three games in the recent GBSA Preseason Classic. GB 12's 3, Tiger Point 2 Gulf Breeze's Mitchell Robbins hit a home run and singled, Nick Dugger singled and scored.
