GBHS students expelled for drugs
      Santa Rosa County School Board expelled 25 students at the school board meeting last week, with 10 of those being from south end schools. But Gulf Breeze High only had three students in the group being expelled and sent to the county's alternative education school, the Learning Academy.

Local astronaut touches back down after mission
      An astronaut with local roots is back safe on earth. NASA pilot/Navy Cmdr. Alan Poindexter is a Pensacola Junior College graduate and recently piloted his first mission in space aboard the STS- 122 mission. Space shuttle Atlantis was the delivery vehicle of choice for Columbus, a 23-foot-long cylinder equipped to host experiments inside and outside the station.

Trimming up for Locks of Love
     Tammy Coleman, 39, sports a new look these days. Tammy and her mother, Betty Jean, took a trip to Studio 85 where owner Rachael Adams suggested the result of her haircut could be donated to Locks of Love. Locks of Love is a non profit organization that provides hair to children who have lost theirs due to illness. Coleman, right, holds her lock of hair she donated to Locks of Love not long after it was cut. She donated about 11 inches of hair to the non profit group.

      Amnesty Day is March 15 Disposal of household hazardous waste will be offered at no charge and there will be e reduced Rate for Small Businesses. The 2008 Amnesty Day, which offers Santa Rosa County residents the opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste at no charge, is scheduled for March 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
