Daytona 500
      I just returned from the 50th Running of the Daytona Beach 500 International NASCAR race. It is not the first time I have been to a NASCAR race, but it has been 20 years. I went with Fast Forrest, With the NASCAR Report, from NEWSRADIO1620AM, and we had a ball.

15-mile endurance challenge is Saturday
      The Pensacola Sports Association and the National Park Service inaugurate the year of Ft. Pickens restoration with the 2008 Pensacola Sports Association's "FIGHT to the FORT Endurance Challenge," a 15-Mile race from the park entrance to the fort and back.

'Fantasy Island' is theme of Beach Ball
      The Optimist Club of Pensacola Beach is busy planning the Beach Ball 2008, "Fantasy Island, a visit to the 70s." The event will be Friday, April 25 at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front, a dinner and dancing event featuring live entertainment by Pensacola Beach favorites, "Wildwood.

Pensacola Beach prepares for spring break
     Though temperatures took a dip this week, warm weather and spring break visitors are coming soon. March 2007 saw an upswing in visitors to Pensacola Beach and Santa Rosa Island Authority Executive Director Buck Lee says he is hoping for a repeat. Hurricane repairs essentially have the beach in brand new condition, ready for the onslaught.

Alcohol vendors get training in advance of spring break
      TALLAHASSEE - The Department of Business and Professional Regulation's (DBPR) Division of Alcoholic Beverages (ABT) is devoting more resources than ever to the prevention of underage drinking. As part of this initiative, ABT will be offering a special training session to Bay, Walton and Okaloosa county alcohol licensees.

That means that on Friday, February 29, we will not only receive an extra day, but it will be the fifth Friday of February, a rarity that last occurred in 1980 and will not occur again until 2036 - every 28 years.
