Lady Dolphins' season, shutout run ends in state semifinals
GBHS goes 60 minutes without a single shot, lose 2- 0 to Merritt Island
      Sharon Kerby had a reason to smile last Wednesday - her team had done a good job of cleaning up their bench after the game. The problem was that was the only thing she could smile about as the Lady Dolphins went 60 minutes without a single shot on goal and lost to Merritt Island 2-0 in the 4A state semifinals at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

Dolphin wrestlers make history
Chavers, Retherford the first to represent GBHS at state
      Senior Kyle Chavers and junior Taylor Retherford made history Saturday in Palm Coast, becoming the first Dolphin wrestlers in school history to qualify for the state meet, which starts today in Lakeland. Chavers, in the 160 pound class, took second out of 16 wrestlers in his weight class, while Retherford took fourth in the 181 pound class.

Andrews Institute educates coaches, parents about arm injuries
      The Andrews Institute hosted a clinic concerning common over use arm injuries in baseball on Thursday at the Athletes' Performance Building. The timing of the seminar was perfect as local youth leagues are preparing to start the 2008 season.

Dolphins drop heartbreaker at district tournament
GBHS finishes 14-12 after twopoint loss to Milton
      The Gulf Breeze Dolphin basketball team staged furious fourth quarter comeback, but Jeff White's runner from 10 feet rimmed out as they lost 45-43 to Milton in the first round of the District 1-4A Tournament Feb. 5 at Woodham Middle School.

McGreal, Dolphins clinch first winning season in 13 years
      The Dolphin basketball team, led by second-year coach David McGreal, has turned in a winning record for the first time since 1995. Coaching is a family tradition for McGreal, who played high school basketball at Rockledge, Fla. High School, for his father Jerry. McGreal says his father's guidance has been a huge key to his success, both as a player and a coach.

Freshman leads Lady Dolphins to season opening win, 11-0
Milam throws three-hit shutout, hits three-run homer in 11-0 win
      Alison Milam had as many hits as the entire West Florida squad, including a three-run homer and six runs batted in, to lead the Lady Dolphins to an 11-0, five-inning win over the Lady Jags in GBHS' season debut on Feb. 5. Milam, who also hit a threerun double in the win, struck out seven and walked only one.

Dolphin athletics has a new attitude
      Gulf Breeze High School hosted an all-sports strength and conditioning clinic for current sixth through 11th graders Feb. 8-9. "We want to ignite a flame that helps the Gulf Breeze athletics department get to a higher level," head football coach Chris Nemith said.

Brunty homers, Dolphins blank last year's state runners up
      BY JASON THOMPSON Gulf Breeze News jason@gulfbreezenews.com Kameron Brunty homered to start a six-run fourth inning as the Dolphins blanked Pine Forest 7-0 in a preseason game Friday in Gulf Breeze. Pine Forest, who played in the 4A state championship game last season, made a pair of errors in the decisive inning.
