      P'Beach Volleyball team raising money for national trip The Pensacola Beach Volleyball Club's 15-under team is raising funds to play in next year's U.S. Junior Olympic Girls National Championships in Dallas. R.J. Salon has donated two facials, hour massages, haircuts and pedicure/manicures for the cause. For $5, one can purchase a raffle tickets for these prizes.

Lady Dolphins blank Washington 1-0 for 11th straight title; 16th in last 17 years
      With all the bumps along the road in the Lady Dolphins' soccer regular season learning a new system, new coaches, players accepting new roles), it ended the way as the previous 10 seasons before them with a district championship.

Savage drafted by MLS' Chivas USA
2003 GBHS grad first pick of the fourth round
      Keith Savage (GBHS c/o 2003) didn't think he was getting a phone call Friday, but he did - and not from his parents, his sister or his girlfriend. He got one from Chivas USA coach Preki Radosavljevic, who told him his team drafted Savage in the fourth round of the Major League Soccer's SuperDraft Friday in Baltimore.

NHS hoops sweep Gulf Breeze
      The Gulf Breeze boys basketball team was unable to complete a season sweep of Navarre Thursday. Brian Shreve's buzzer-beater in Navarre gave the Dolphins the win in the two teams first meeting. Navarre, however, would allow for no such chance in the second match-up of the District 1-4A rivals, beating Gulf Breeze 65-49.

Dolphins rolling into districts this week
      The Gulf Breeze boys soccer team won their last two regular season games last week, beating both Pace and Catholic 5-0. Thursday, the Dolphins beat Pace on Senior Night with contributions from those seniors. Three minutes in, senior forward Brad Parrish scored on an assist from senior forward Leland Davis to give the Dolphins a 1-0 lead.

Dolphin wrestlers take fifth at Bay Invitational
      The Gulf Breeze Dolphin wrestling team continued a stellar season with a fifth place finish (out of 18 teams) at the Bay Invitational in Panama City on Jan. 12. Kyle Chavers (160 lb. class), Taylor Retherford (171) and Jason Pendergraph (215) all won their weight classes, while Tanner Eagley (145) and Kyle McKissack (135) both placed third.

Flynn, Borges notch hat tricks - twice
Chiles snaps GBHS girls' 38- game home win streak in 2003
      Kevin Flynn and Edegard Borges had a pair of hat tricks for the Dolphin soccer team 15 and 10 years ago this week, respectively. Flynn had three goals in a 4-1 win over Fort Walton and three more in a 6-3 win over Catholic. Tommy Sweeney scored in the Fort Walton game, while Jacob Baker had two assists.

Team Hepworth, Karcher win in GBSA 7-8 year old girls basketball action
      Teams Hepworth and Karcher were winners in Gulf Breeze Sports Association's 7-8 year olds basketball action during Jan. 12 action at the Rec Center. A recap of Week 4 action is as follows: 7-8 boys Hawkins 15, Sheppard 9: Nic Myers had seven points for Hawkins, while Thomas Goodroe, Matthew Hawkins, Dylan Brayton and Deems Edlund had two each.
