These are the key elements for taxpayers in this package - things that Floridians have told us they wanted. Portability: A universally agreed upon aspect of the plan. The amendment eliminates the "lock-in-effect" of Save Our Homes (SOH).

      On January 29 taxpayers can send a message to tax takers. That's the day voters answer the question: do you want to reduce property taxes? Though the lengthy ballot language appears to have been written by Omega code artists, the issue is whether we're satisfied with the property tax system as it is or do we want it changed.

      Midway Fire District defends prior purchases This is in response to your letter to the editor last week regarding Midway Fire District's request for a Fire Assessment Fee. The reason for the District moving to a Fire Assessment Fee has nothing to do with prior purchases which are addressed below but are a result of proposed changes in doubling the Homestead exemption.
