Learn public boating at UWF this spring
      The University of West Florida Division of Continuing Education will offer maritime education courses for the spring semester. These courses, taught by the United States Power Squadron, will be offered in Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach and range from $40 to $85 per person.

Scooters will be used to make deliveries in high season
      Domino's Pizza franchisee, Scott Magnes, owner of the Gulf Breeze Domino's store recently opened a new Domino's Pizza store on Pensacola Beach. The store, located at 5 Via de Luna, opened on December 31and serves the entire Pensacola Beach area and is a completely different concept than a typical Domino's Pizza store.

National Seashore recruiting beach rescue lifeguards
      Gulf Islands National Seashore Superintendent Jerry Eubanks announced today that the Park is recruiting for its Beach Rescue Lifeguard Program in both the Florida and Mississippi Districts.

IRS qualifies some boats as second homes
      When Congress adjourned for 2007, they left in place two federal income tax deductions of potential benefit to boat owners. A boat is treated like a second home for federal tax purposes if it has a galley, a head, and sleeping berth. Mortgage interest paid on the loan is deductible from your federal income taxes.

A wedding cabana
     On Sunday, Jan. 20, Kay Lee and Carol Sears hosted prospective brides to see the view from the Cabana Club on Pensacola Beach. The event was attended by many businesses that cater to the wedding industry, including a deejay, photographer, stationer and bakery. Sears said many brides and grooms from out of state choose Pensacola Beach for their weddings because it is centrally located to many states and has ample hotel rooms and activities to accommodate wedding guests. The Cabana Club is located on the third floor of the Marina building.

      There are times when we wonder why other people can't see the "truth" as we see it. The answer is that we are at different levels of understanding. Those who study sciences are much more mature than the novice who only reads articles. Those who study history generally have a superior understanding than those who just read the newspaper.
