Locally shot film in Denver festival "Permanent Vacation," a film shot entirely in the Pensacola Bay Area, will be featured this month at Festivus, a Denver film festival known for showcasing some of the most offbeat, independent films in the country. Netflix members can also add the black comedy to their queue to be shipped this spring. The film has been on the independent film festival circuit for several months and has been selected to close Festivus on Jan. 13, a prestigious placement reserved for the strongest films. "Permanent Vacation" previewed at the Pensacola Film Festival last fall where it picked up the Jury Award. Florida State University film school graduate Scott Peake directed "Permanent Vacation," which was filmed primarily at Adventures Unlimited with additional scenes shot in downtown Pensacola. The film about a family vacation gone wild stars American actors David Carradine and Michael Bowen of "Kill Bill I" and "Kill Bill II," as well as British megastars Frank Harper of "Bend it Like Beckham" and Gina Bellman of "Coupling." The beautiful scenery and ideal weather in the Pensacola Bay Area attracts national and international scouts to this area for filming whether it be for an independent film, major production or well-known television show such as "Prison Break" on Fox.
