Lady Dolphins lose title rematch
Ashley Collins made her first start since Gulf Breeze's last loss to Washington on Nov. 28. The loss also snapped the team's season-best five game win streak. Winter Springs 3, Lady Dolphins 2 Gulf Breeze (11-5-1) led 2-0 in the first half before Winter Springs scored three in a 20 minute span of the second half. "We just couldn't stay with her." Lauren Davis played both of the Saturday games in goal. All three games were played with 30 minute halves, instead of the usual 40. Lady Dolphins 5, PHS 0 The Lady Tigers, led by Gulf Breeze resident Jenna Burke in goal, kept the Lady Dolphins out of the net for a half before Gulf Breeze took control in the second half. Majewski scored the first of her two goals three minutes into the second half, putting away a pass from Vickrey. Robles was fouled in the box in the 53rd minute, setting up a PK goal for Amanda Green. Barona scored the team's next two goals, one off a Vickrey corner in the 60th minute and the other off a one touch pass from Robles. Majewski's second goal came off a pass from Pyle. Lady Dolphin JV 3, Navarre 3 Gulf Breeze (13-0-2) rallied from a 3- 1 halftime deficit to tie Navarre for the second time this season. Morgan Floyd scored twice, giving her 26 goals in 15 matches this season. Camila Sharp assisted the first one, while Gina Bertelli set up the gametying goal with seven minutes left. Jenna Ceravolo scored the other goal, her 21st of the season. Lady Dolphin JV 8, PHS 0 (75 minutes) Ceravolo scored five goals and assisted on a sixth as Gulf Breeze posted their ninth mercy rule win of the season. Floyd scored twice, while Megan Eastburn had a goal and an assist. Cori Snyder had three assists, while Heather Haney had two - her first points of the season. Breezy Paulus had two saves in goal. |
